PERRY

Dan and Constance Perry are both active in the Episcopal Church and have served on a number of committees and boards. Constance is currently on the Board of Episcopal Relief and Development, the international relief and development agency of the Episcopal Church of the United States. Dain has served on the vestry at their church, Trinity Church, Copley Square, Boston.

With over 225 screenings of Traces of the Trade; in 30 states and 115 cities, before over 17,000 people, their work to build awareness of the legacy of slavery has had broad and deep impact. In 2008 they were honored to receive the first annual SCI Idealist Award, given by Social Capital, Inc., in Boston, for “their deep commitment to social justice.”

This screening of the documentary Traces of the Trade and the group discussion that followed with these two national figures in the anti-racism movement was a moving experience only four days after January 6. Another of example of the Center’s efforts to show how “othering” tears our society apart.
